AccordingtothelegendofWhiteSnake,thebeautifulgirlwhowasactuallyawhitesnakemetXuXianonthebridgeintherainandtheyfellinlovewitheachotherandanumbrellatheyusedbecamethesymboloftheirlove.Thebridgewasalsothescenewheretheymadeupafteralongseriesofupsanddowns.

Thankstothelovestorybetweenthehumanandtheimmortal,thebrokenbridgeattractsnumerousvisitorsandhasitslegendaryreputationspreadfarandwidealloverChina.Manypeoplebelievethebridgeisthenumberoneplaceforpeopleinlove.

Rainorshine,youcanenjoythelakeviewsfromthebridgeinallseasons.南屏晚鐘EveningBellRingingatNanpingHill,itisoneofthe“TenViewsofWestLake”withthelongesthistory.IntheNorthernSongDynasty,adistinguishedartist,ZhangZeduan,didapaintingentitled“EveningBellRingingatNanpingHill”.ItisnotasfamousastheRiversideSceneatQingmingFestivalwhichalsowasdonebyhim.NanpinHillliesalongthesouthbankoftheWestLake,lessthan100metershigh,butextendsaslongasover1000meters.Itfeaturestheodd-shapedrocksandthegreenwoods.NanpinHilloffersdifferentviewsduetothedifferentweather.Infinedays,thegreenwoodsoverthehillgrowmoreenchanting.Inrainydays,thehill–partiallycoveredwithcloudsandfog–createsabeautifulscene:thehilllookslikedancetrippingly.
